Trust What You Feel
I wrote my husband this song for our first Christmas together. It was the hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep from him to this day! I started writing the song September 2019 after he said, “I love you” for the first time. We were at the beach in Malibu for sunrise & it was the most magical & God filled morning. Right before he said “I love you” he looked up and saw, “Trust What You Feel” written on the Lifegaurd tower next to us. I was so inspired by that moment because we knew God was with us.
1 John 4:18 - “There is no fear in love.” Before meeting Niko I had spent almost 2 years studying relationships & God’s love + what a relationship centered around God looks like. In that moment on the beach I knew that God was giving me a love that would be from Him.
When God is in the center of your relationship you can “trust what you feel” because He is there leading you and guiding you. So this song is super super special to us & is about our love for each other & God’s love for us. I tried to include as many phrases that we say to each other in the lyrics to make it even more personal to us. Music has always been the easiest way for me to express how I feel & so I wanted to give Niko a gift that would always remind him of our love.
